In 2020 Canon also announced Extenders for the R system – the Extender RF 1.4x and Extender RF 2x. These high performance Extenders multiply the effective focal length of the lens to which they are attached by 1.4x or 2x. So, for example, a 400mm lens becomes 560mm with a 1.4x Extender, and 800mm with a 2x Extender.
Anybody tried out the Canon EF 2x III Extender with the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM? I have a Canon 5d Mark III w/ 24-105mm and 70-200mm lenses on the way, I'm wondering how well the extender works with them, especially the 70-200. I'm hoping that it'd work pretty well for airshows and wildlife.
I don't believe any Canon EF teleconverters are compatible with EF-S lenses. Only Full Frame EF lenses are. But not any EF-S lenses. For the OP if it's in your budget look into any of the Canon EF 70-200mm F/2.8L IS series lenses. Canon has released 3 revisions of the stabilized version.I don't have a huge budget so I can't afford 100-500mm lense or the new 200-800mm lense. So I'm hesitating between the 600MM F11 (400$ used) and/or 800MM F11 (625$ used) VS. Using a Canon RF 2x Extender on my RF 100-400mm F5.6-8 IS (550$ used). Your advices would be really appreciated and thanks in advance for your generosity.nhBCsaY.
