As I got close to removing the motor, I used ratchet straps to secure the frame to overhead rafters. I then lowered the jack temporarily, put some cut 2x4s in position under the motor and jacked them up so that the motor sat securely on the 2x4s on the jack. I was then able to use the jack to spin the motor out the left side of the frame.

This would be the obvious first thing. Then the voltage check to determine whether the charging circuit is operating correctly. The battery without the engine running should show 11.5 - 12.5 volts. With the engine running should show 13.5 +. And the intermittent, flashing nature suggests grounds or a loose connection.
Hi, I have a 2004 V Rod, and I also have excessive vibration, and I was also told by the dealer service department that it is normal. My vibration begins at about 2900 RPM, and gets worst until at 3500 RPM, where it is at its maxium. It then begins to ease off and is gone at approximately 4200 RPM.
